The Samoyed, which has its name from the Samoyed people, is a very old dog breed. Already the nomads in his country of origin Siberia have brought him up for a multitude of works, and he has always mastered the tasks set to him excellently by his intelligence and his will to work. He was used for herding and guarding the herds and for hunting, and thanks to his thick fur he was able to survive even the coldest frosty days. The Samoyed learns quickly and gladly, is always ready to prove his abilities and has always been very versatile.
In gratitude for the work done, the dogs were allowed to sleep in the tents of the Samoyed people, warming the nomads at the same time. Due to the close living together with the family, a dog was sorted out at the slightest sign of aggressiveness. Through this radical selection, the breed has retained its original friendliness and its very intensive child-loving nature to this day. The Samoyed is always motivated and wants to please his human and wants to fulfill his wishes. This characteristic was also appreciated by the explorers and polar explorers at the end of the 19th, beginning of the 20th century. Many of these explorers took Samoyed with them on their voyages of discovery.
The big white dog with the "smiling face" found his lovers first in England of all polar dogs. The Samoyed is intelligent, full of energy, but above all he shows his affection to everyone. He is sociable, peace-loving, but nevertheless able to assert himself in a fight. He is very independent because of his innate unusual intelligence. The Samoyed is the first recognized sled dog breed. His abilities at sled dog races do not depend on the speed, but on his endurance. Like all Nordic sled dogs, the Samoan needs a lot of exercise, he will not be satisfied with running out in the garden.
